Transparency International, Bangladesh (TIB), has urged the government to observe the International Anti-corruption Day officially aiming to promote anti-corruption campaign. The International Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually on December 9 since the passage of the United Nations Convention against Corruption on October 31, 2003. 'Bangladesh is a signatory country to the UN Convention against Corruption. So it should observe the International Anti-corruption Day officially to intensify anti-corruption campaign to root out this social menace,' TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said at a programme in the city on Wednesday. TIB Chairman Advocate Sultana Kamal, member of the trustee board Dr ATM Shamsul Huda and M Hafizuddin Khan, among others, were present on the occasion. Dr Iftekharuzzaman called upon the government to send the message of its anti-corruption stance to the people through observing the day officially, according to a news agency.
