Awami League (AL) Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud urged the government Thursday to file a criminal case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for celebrating her spurious birthday on the National Mourning Day, reports BSS.
"Khaleda Zia celebrates false birthday on the National Mourning Day. A case would have been lodged with the criminal court had anybody committed such a crime in other country. So, I would like to tell the government to file a criminal case against her," he said.
Mr Hasan Mahmud made this remark while addressing as the chief guest a discussion at the Bir Uttam Khwaja Nizam Uddin Auditorium at Segunbagicha in the capital in the afternoon.
National Awami Party (NAP-Bhasani) organised the discussion marking the 39th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
With president of the organisation Moshtaque Ahmed Bhasani in the chair, the discussion was addressed by AL leader Advocate Balaram Podder, general secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana, women leader Fatema Jaman Sathi and Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra artist Manoranajn Ghoshal.
