Govt urged to take steps for shrimp export sector

Leaders of Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association (BFFEA) have urged the government to take steps including interest-free block loan facility, enhancement of cash incentive and bail-out facility for the shrimp export sector hit by the current global economic downturn.
The BFFEA leaders made the call at the 24th annual general meeting (AGM) of the Association at a city hotel with its President Kazi Belayet Hossain in the chair.
Newly elected President of BFFEA Md Musa Meah, Senior Vice-President Kazi Shahnewaz, vice-presidents Maqsudur Rahman and Sheikh Md Abdul Baki, directors Md Golam Mostafa, Salahuddin Ahmed, Ferdous Alam, M Khalilullah and AH Md Shahadat Ali Khan, members Sheikh Kamrul Alam, Shariful Islam, MMA Salam, Kamruddin Ahmed and Md Saifur Rahman Mazumder were present at the meeting.
The newly elected president underscored the need for unity of all stakeholders including exporters, farmers, feed mills operators and financial institutions to uphold the image of the shrimp sector at home and abroad.
The 15 office-bearers of the BFFEA were elected unopposed.
