Govt wants restoration of BKSAL in new form: Fakhrul

The ruling Awami League (AL) wants to restore the one-party BAKSAL rule in the country which was buried in 1975, in a new shape alleged BNP leader Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir Tuesday, reports UNB. He was speaking at a human chain formed by Hazaribag BNP unit in front of the National Press Club demanding release of the party leader Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu. BNP acting secretary general accused the government of resorting to repression, arrest, abduction, secret killing, and filing false cases against the opposition leaders and workers in a bid to keep BNP away from the next general election. He said the government does not believe in democracy. "They (AL) talk of democracy but practice fascism". He demanded unconditional release of Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu and other BNP leaders and workers thrown behind the bar in false cases. Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the government is even obstructing the opposition to observe the Victory Day in different areas including the capital. Speaking at a separate human chain BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said the Election Commission also did not support splitting Dhaka City Corporation. EC which was considering holding the DCC polls had not been consulted before splitting it. That is why EC expressed its inability to hold the divided DCC polls. Zia Nagorik Sangsad organized the human chain in front of the National Press Club to protest the attack on former Mayor of Dhaka and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka during the December 4 hartal in the city.
