BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the repressive acts against opposition leaders and activists by ‘Awami cadres’ during the staggered upazila elections came as part of the government’s deep-rooted conspiracy to annihilate its opponents.
The BNP spokesperson came up with the remark in a statement protesting the attack on his party’s Morelganj upazila unit leader and vice chairman candidate Abdul Mannan Khan in Bagerhat Friday.
He alleged that ‘Awami cadres’ attacked upazila BNP joint general secretary and cut off the tendons of his hands and legs before the Jum’a prayers Friday, according to a news agency.
