Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Wednesday called for building a transparent and technology driven revenue system to enable countrymen's trust that their hard-earned money is properly being used for welfare and development purposes, reports BSS.
"The interim government is committed to building a well-structured, just, and public trust-based state financial framework. To achieve this goal, the government is working to establish a technology-driven, hassle-free VAT system," he said in a message on the occasion of the Value Added Tax (VAT) Day and VAT Week 2025.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is observing the VAT Day today and the VAT Week from December 10-15, highlighting the importance of timely registration under this year's theme, "Register on Time, Pay VAT Accurately."
"We want to build a future where economic transactions will be transparent, the business environment will be business-friendly and state services will be quality-driven and universal," Prof Yunus said.
He expressed hope that, upholding the spirit of the July mass uprising, a transparent and simplified revenue system will emerge, which will enable the citizens to visibly trust that their hard-earned money is genuinely being used for welfare and development purposes.
