Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad has said the government has been working to project the literary works of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to the new generation.

Mr Azad was addressing a discussion arranged by Bangali Samagra Jadughar on the occasion of the 111th birth anniversary of the national poet, reports BSS.
Nazrul Academy has been playing a pioneering role in this regard, he said, adding projecting literary works of Nazrul to the new generation would be easy if Nazrul researchers give advice and enrich their knowledge bank to this end.
The information minister said the outstanding contribution of Nazrul to literature was universally recognised and his songs and poems were composed for the welfare of the people.
Mentioning that Nazrul's songs had inspired the freedom- loving people in the War of Liberation in 1971, Azad said that he used to think for establishing a new society by removing the old.
With cultural personality Atiqul Haque in the chair, the discussion was addressed by Prof Emeritus Dr Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Prof Abdul Qaiyum and executive director of Bangali Samagra Jadughar Tariq Rahman Sourav.
