Thursday, 30 September 2010
Information Minister Abul Kalam Azad Wednesday said the government is working relentlessly to turn Bangladesh into a technology-based middle-income country, reports BSS.
"We want to build a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by 2021, where there will be no poverty and illiteracy," Azad told the inaugural function of 'Self-employment leadership training course' at the ICMA Bhaban Auditorium.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Munnujan Sufian and Secretary General of Employment Organisation Prof Din Mohammad Bhuiyan, among others, addressed the function with President of the organisation Azizur Rahman Chowdhury in the chair.
The government is taking various steps for building a digital Bangladesh, Azad said, adding that as many as 8,500 post offices so far have been connected with e-network.
E-centres have been set up at 100 union parishads in the country, he said and added that e-centres will be set up in the rest of the unions soon.
Azad urged non-government organisations to come forward to create employment opportunities in order to expedite development of the country side by side with the government.
