Govt working to win battle against poverty: GM Qader

Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism GM Qader said that the people of Bangladesh achieved independence of the country after a long struggle against injustice, discrimination and communalism, reports BSS.
"We are now fighting against poverty and the government is working to win the battle aiming at fulfilling the aspirations of the people," he said while addressing 'Shadhinata Uthsab-2009' as chief guest at the Mohanager Nattya Moncha in the city Saturday.
Bangladesh Cultural Academy and Focus Bangladesh jointly arranged the function.
Later, the minister distributed crests among distinguished personalities for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
With former lawmaker Syed Abu Hossain Babla in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by former vice- chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Emajuddin Ahmed.
