Govt's every work goes against country's interest: Khaleda
Friday, 31 July 2009
Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia Wednesday night said every work of the government is going against the country's interest and warned that people will not accept any such activities, reports UNB.
"This government is working to destroy the country serving the interest of another country," Khaleda Zia said this while speaking to the central leaders and district representatives of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal as they met her at her Gulshan office to apprise her of the outcome of their extended meeting held earlier in the day.
She said conspiracies are going on to destroy the country's economy and make it dependent on others.
The former Prime Minister said now the conspiracy has taken such a turn that they are now thinking of having a 'Chief Minister' in the country in place of the Prime Minister.
Khaleda called upon all the nationalist forces to get united to resist conspiracies against the country.
On Tipaimukh visit by a parliamentary delegation, the BNP chief said her party had asked for taking experts in the team but it was not clear why the government raised objection to it. "We didn't recommend any partisan expert."
Questioning the delegation's purpose of visit to Tipaimukh, she wanted to know whether it is tourism or a picnic party.
The opposition leader urged all concerned to stop the plan for constructing Tipaimukh Dam and asked the government to refrain from hatching conspiracy to provide corridor to India in the name of Asian Highway.
She said the conspiracy, which was hatched during the last military- backed caretaker government to make the country subservient, is still on.
BNP secretary general Khondoker Delwar Hossain, Krishak Dal acting president Mirza Fakhul Islam Alamgir and general secretary Shamsuzzaman Dudu also addressed the meeting.
