Grameenphone (GP) and Agriculture Information Service (AIS) under the Agriculture Ministry jointly launched Caravan Activation programme recently for promoting digital agriculture information services through the GP Community Information Centres (CICs).
In this initiative, four AIS caravans would touch 192 CICs and their adjacent communities over a three-month period.
Director of the AIS at Gaglajani Union of Naltabari of Sherpur Nazrul Islam inaugurated the programme, while Head of CIC of GP AHM Sultanur Reza was present, said a press release.
CICs deliver information-based services to the students, women, businessmen and farmers in the rural community.
GP and its strategic partners have developed digitised agricultural contents and consultancy services to serve the farmers of the community.
These services are designed to help the farmers solve frequently faced agricultural problems and develop their capacity relating to state of art agricultural technologies.
The caravans will also promote the CICs and its services among the student community. The caravans are expected to promote the CICs and its services among approximately 600 potential CIC customers at each location, the release added.
