GP BCB National Cricket Academy team clinched the five-match one-day series 2-1 beating visiting Sri Lanka Development squad by 13 runs in the keenly contested 5th and last one day match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka Friday, reports UNB.
But all credit must go to Robiul Islam Shiblu whose fierce spell of five wickets for 38 runs restricted the visitors to 185 for all in 44.5 overs.
After an early batting jolt, Sri Lanka Development Squad offered some resistance to come back in the match, but finally failed to reach the winning target of 199 runs in the face of devastating bowling attacks by some Bangladeshi bowlers.
Only three Lankan batsmen-opener Kaushal Silva (63), two down Gihan Ruasinghe (48) and lower order Tisara Perera (45)- reached double digit.
Apart from Shiblu's five-wicket haul, Saqlain Sajib grabbed two wickets for 33 runs while Muktar Ali took one wicket for 25 runs.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, GP BCB National Cricket Academy team posted a moderate 198 runs for nine wickets in quota 50 overs.
After the early departure of three top order batsmen, two down Farhad Hossain scored 46 runs off 97 balls with three fours, skipper Marshal Ayub made 56 off 76 runs with two fours and middle order Nasir Hossain made 36 runs off 45 balls with five fours.
