GP joins emergency relief efforts for flood victims

Grameenphone (GP) Limited has joined in the emergency relief efforts in the flood-affected areas of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions from Sunday.
Distribution of relief materials is being done by a large number of volunteers from the GP in collaboration with the members of the joint forces, local government authorities and its different corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners.
As a part of this drive, relief materials were handed over on the day to the Bangladesh Army and Dhaka District Administration authorities at Badda army camp in the city.
GP Chief Financial Officer Md Arif Al Islam and Director (Regulatory and Corporate Affairs) Khalid Hasan handed over the relief materials to Dhaka district commissioner Kamal Uddin and the army battalion commander responsible for the area Lt Col Sarwar.
The relief materials were 302 sacks of rice, 200 sacks of chira, 800 bottles of soyabean, 50 sacks of lintel (mosur dal), 50 sacks of salt, 44,000 packets of oral saline, 12,000 water purifying tablets and 18,000 packets of biscuits.
In Dhaka division, relief materials were also distributed in Keraniganj at Buriganga 2nd Bridge and Aambagicha Government Primary School.
GP Director (New Business Division) Kafil HS Muyeed, local upazila nirbahi officers, upazila health and family planning officers and Bamaneh (NGO) were also present on the occasion.
Relief materials will also be distributed in Shibaloy, Harirampur and Singair upazilas of Manikganj district while relief support will be continued in Dhaka district at Dohar and Nowabganj in the next couple of days.
Similar relief efforts have been carried out Sunday in Rajshahi division. In the next couple of days, relief support will be continued in Sirajganj district at Polytechnic College, Kazipur and Chok Kobdas Para.
