GP makes largest payment to NBR in the history

Grameenphone Ltd. handed over a cheque of BDT 1.5 billion to the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) as installment of advance income tax for FY 2009-10 Tuesday.
The cheque was handed over to Dr. Nasiruddin Ahmed, Chairman, National Board of Revenue, by Raihan Shamsi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Grameenphone. Other senior officials of NBR and Grameenphone were present on the occasion.
Dr. Nasiruddin Ahmed said that Grameenphone has set good example for others by paying taxes regularly.
"As a responsible company Grameenphone was able to contribute to the exchequer with the growth of its business and is committed to continue its effort for the development of the country." said Grameenphone DCEO.
Grameenphone has been contributing significantly to the national exchequer since its inception. In the last consecutive three years Grameenphone was the highest income tax payer of the country.
Since its inception, Grameenphone has paid a total of BDT 147.90 billionto the national exchequer as of December 2009.
