GP reports Tk 24.9b Q1 revenue income

Grameenphone (GP) reported revenue income of Tk 24.9 billion for the first quarter of the current year, up 6.1 per cent from the same period of last year owing to increased voice outgoing from new subscribers, data revenue with momentum from 3G, SMS and campaign driven content services. In comparison with the last quarter of 2013, growth was 2.6 per cent higher, says a press release. Growth in both local and international interconnection minutes, wholesale and financial services also contributed to this top line. During the 1st quarter, GP acquired 1.57 million new subscriptions, taking the year-end subscription base to 48.68 million with 42.2 per cent subscription market share.  With 16.5 per cent growth in subscriber against industry growth of 15.4 per cent, GP managed to strengthen its leadership position further. GP also experienced encouraging growth in 3G subscribers from last quarter, according to a news agency.
