GP to sponsor nat’l cricket team

Grameenphone Ltd., the leading mobile operator in the country, have won the rights of team sponsor of Bangladesh national cricket team (male) for a two-year period from November 1, 2007 to October 31, 2009, reports UNB.
This is the 3rd consecutive time that Grameenphone will sponsor the national team with a record sum of Tk 60.15 million (6.15 crore). This is Tk 20.7 million more than their previous two-year deal with the BCB (Tk 30.5 million) that expired in June this year. GP's first two-year deal with the BCB was for Tk 10.1 million.
Grameenphone won the team sponsorship rights through a tender Monday with only two bids received at the Dhaka Sheraton Hotel from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Of the two bids, Grameenphone came up with highest Tk 50.5 million, while Axiom Technologies offered Tk 50.1 million. Grameephone General Manager (head of market communications) Mir Naubat Ali and Axiom Technologies Managing Director Rizwan Bin Farouq personally submitted the bids for their respective companies.
Grameenphone later agreed with the BCB to an enhanced bid of Tk 60.15 million as per the tender conditions that provided for further negotiations with the highest bidder.
In addition, Grameenphone will provide another Tk 20 million during the two-year contract period -- Tk 4.5 million per year for clothing, kits and accessories of national team and Tk 5.5 million per year as expenses for perimetre boards to be used during home series.
They will also provide team bus for the national team for travel at home.
