Grameenphone launches BillPay service for Titas Gas customers
FE Report | Friday, 15 August 2008
Grameenphone Ltd and Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Limited have jointly launched the BillPay service for easing the payment of gas bills by clients.
The new service offers anyone with a Titas Gas connection to pay their bills either from their Grameenphone mobile or at any GP-authorised BillPay centre, a press release said.
The BillPay is a reliable, quick and convenient bill payment service that ensures full end-to-end transparency and the ultimate convenience for utility consumers, the press release said.
This is the first time a mobile operator has launched such a service with universal access for all citizens, which means providing service to any Titas Gas consumer, with or without a mobile connection from any operator.
The aim of the service is to remove consumer difficulties associated with standing in long queues, travelling, limited payment hours at banks, and various post-payment hassles.
Titas Gas consumers in all its operational areas and Power Development Board (PDB) electricity consumers in Chittagong and Cox's Bazaar will be able to pay their bills both from their GP connection and at over 1500 authorised "BillPay" Centres.
Titas Gas managing director, Engr Md Abdullah, said "Titas Gas has taken positive steps towards being more customer-centric, using Grameenphone's reliable technology to remove the bill payment hassles of the consumers."
"The BillPay service is another innovative service from Grameenphone. Titas Gas consumers will now be able to pay their bills virtually at any time and from any place," said Grameenphone CEO Ander Jensen.
BillPay users will also receive a confirmation message of their paid bills instantly, he added.
BillPay users will also be able to enquire about their bill status instantly through a menu in his or her mobile, SMS or by calling BillPay's dedicated, modern call centre.
"I strongly hope that the flexibility, ease of use and transparency in the BillPay system will be appreciated by the people," Titas Gas MD said.
BillPay is a practical demonstration of how the private and public sector can jointly work together with a common goal to efficiently serve the people, the press release said.
