Four more bodies of Bangladeshi expatriates from Libya have reached Dhaka from Greece where they jumped off a ship and died at sea, taking the body count to 13, reports bdnews24.com.
The Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) Joint Secretary Mafruha Sultana brought the bodies to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital from Shahjalal International Airport Monday around 10am.
Bodies of six other victims of the Greek tragedy had earlier reached Dhaka Saturday and Sunday and those of three victims were earlier flown in two weeks back before those were handed over to their relatives.
Sultana told reporters that relatives of the 10 victims were called to identify and take the bodies. Medical tests would be done on the bodies, if needed, she said.
The hospital's Forensic Department Chief Mohammad Belayet Hossain told the news agency that the 10 bodies received during the past three days were kept at the mortuary.
Forty-nine Bangladeshis, who were employed by a Korea-based company in Libya, jumped off their ship into the sea in Crete Island on Mar 5 on their way to Greece from Libya.
The death of 13 of them has been confirmed while one is still missing. Others were rescued and flown back to Dhaka.
