Green chilli farming gaining popularity in Panchagarh

PANCHAGARH, Mar 20 (BSS): The cultivation of chili has gained much popularity to the farmers of five upazilas in the district recently as it has helped the growers to change their socio-economic condition significantly.
Many of the farmers have already become self-reliant economically through cultivating chili on their lands through using modern methods.
Department of Agriculture Extension office sources said a total of 8,421 hectares of land have been brought under green chili cultivation with the production target of 11,371 tonnes of chili.
In recent years, the farmers are cultivating chili with much enthusiasm and keen interest as they are getting bumper production of the variety and earning money from the cultivation.
Modern cultivation methods, distribution of high quality seed to the farmers, availability of fertilizers, need base training and ensuring irrigation facilities including other agriculture inputs to the growers at fair prices are the main reason for boosting production of chili in the areas.
