Our everyday meals are incomplete without green chillies. Raw or added to curries, this little spice is not only delicious but also rich in so many vitamins. Alas, with a kilogram of green chilli price hitting Tk 250, it is squeezing our household budgets.
Reportedly, the supply of chilli has fallen due to the recent floods. But wastage of food products because of inefficient post-harvest practices is an important factor behind high food inflation in Bangladesh. So, the government should build proper storage facilities for perishable vegetables and spices.
