Green Delta Insurance approves 30pc cash dividend

Green Delta Insurance Company Ltd (GDICL) has approved 30 per cent cash divided for its shareholders for the year 2006.
The dividend was approved in GDICL's 21st Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in the city Thursday, with the company's board of directors Chairman AZ Mohammad Hossain in the chair.
During 2006 the company earned gross premium of Tk 762.70 million (76.27 crore). Its assets and reserve increased to Tk 1227.90 million and Tk 494.80 million respectively.
Besides, GDICL's investment income accelerated to Tk 85.20 million, and underwriting profit to Tk 36.60 million, whereas its Earning Per Share (EPS) stood at Tk 37.14, the AGM was told.
The meeting also re-elected Md Abdus Salam, Kabir H Chowdhury, M Mozammal Huq, Shamsuddoha Chowdhury, AQM Nurul Absar, M Aminul Hoque and A Farjad Ahmed as the company's directors among the sponsor shareholders, and Nadeem A Chowdhury, Naima Chowdhury and Iqbal Khan among the public shareholders.
GDICL chairman also presented the directors' report, auditors' report and audited financial statements of 2006 of the company before the shareholders on the occasion, and Managing Director and CFO Nasir A Chowdhury responded to their queries.
