\\\'Green\\\' rickshaw in Bangladesh

Two researchers of Jahangirnagar University have invented a rickshaw that can be run by the electricity produced by the solar panel set over the hood. The motorised rickshaw can run at 25km per hour, without using fuel, as it uses sunlight to charge its solar battery. The battery keeps getting recharged automatically. The electrical component includes a number of parts such as motor, controller, 48-volt battery, solar panel and speedometer. The hybrid 'green' rickshaw can also run on an electric-charged battery. It needs one unit of electricity to recharge the battery, which enables the rickshaw to ply around 10 hours.
This rickshaw can reduce traffic jam as it runs faster than traditional ones and takes small space of road compared to cars. It will reduce pollution and dependence on costly imported fuel. It will enable disabled and old people to drive the electric rickshaw as it does not need manual labour.
The rickshaw-pullers might be the next green warriors if the solar rickshaw project is successful. Driven by solar energy, it will not only put a zero emission vehicle on the road but will also ease off the burden on a rickshaw-puller.
