Green tourism festival set to enthrall travel lovers

In an exciting development, the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the University of Dhaka is all set to unveil the nation's inaugural Green Tourism Festival, aptly named ‘Greenaugurate’. Scheduled for September 27, 2023, this event is aligned with the global theme of World Tourism Day 2023, focusing on ‘Tourism and Green Investment’. It aims to provide a remarkable platform for the budding future leaders of the tourism industry across the nation.
Greenaugurate is anticipated to be a spectacular national gathering, uniting students from various universities throughout the country who are pursuing degrees in tourism and hospitality management. The event is expected to be a day-long extravaganza, featuring diverse segments, including a case competition on sustainable tourism, an enlightening seminar on green tourism, and engaging games like treasure hunts, trading trash, planting seeds, and tic-tac-toe. Moreover, a range of awareness activities is planned to underscore the importance of green tourism and foster sustainable practices in this domain.
The primary objective of Greenaugurate is to underscore the vital significance of green tourism and explore innovative approaches for advancing sustainable practices within this sector. Distinguished guests and participants will include key stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality industry, including representatives from the vice chancellor of Dhaka University, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, as well as members from TOAB and ATAB. Notably, the vice chancellor of Dhaka University, the dean of FBS, along with 5,000 students from Dhaka University and an additional 200 students from 12 different universities with departments specialising in tourism and hospitality management, will grace the event with their presence.
With its diverse range of activities and participants, this festival is poised to make history as the nation's first-ever Green Tourism Festival, leaving an indelible mark on the path towards eco-friendly tourism practices in Bangladesh.
