The US dollar maintained its stable face against Bangladesh taka (BDT) in the inter-bank foreign exchange market with adequate supply of the greenback, fund managers said.
The dollar appeared stable against taka and the exchange rate of the greenback stood at Tk 68.52 maintaining previous trading day's range in the inter-bank market.
The dollar, however, gained ground in public deals and the cash dollar was transacted at rates varying between Tk 67.47 and Tk 69.80 against previous trading day's range of between Tk 67.35 and Tk 69.80.
In the informal market, the dollar remained steady and it was mainly traded at rates varying between Tk 70.00 and Tk 70.25 against previous day's range of between 70.00 and Tk 70.30. The informal market experienced slightly higher demand for the foreign currency on the day, money dealers said.
The exchange rate of the Indian rupee against the taka continued to fluctuate between Tk 1.56 and Tk 1.77.
In the international market, the exchange rate of the dollar against the Japanese yen mainly varied between 103.71 yen and 103.73 yen, while the euro moved between 1.4187 dollar and 1.4189 dollar against the greenback.
As on September 16, 2008, the London Inter-bank Offered Rates (LIBOR) against the US dollar were 2.49660 per cent for one month, 2.81620 per cent for three months, 3.00120 per cent for six months, 2.99000 per cent for nine months and 2.98750 per cent for twelve months.
