Greens for steps to make capital dust, smoke-free

Speakers at a city programme urged the government on Friday to take effective steps to make Dhaka a dust and smoke-free city, reports UNB.
They came up with the demand while addressing a cycle rally arranged to create awareness among people to keep Dhaka clean and make it a dust and smoke- free city.
The rally was jointly organised by Paribaesh Banchao Andolon (POBA), Environmental Science Department of Stamford University of Bangladesh, Janauddog and Bangladesh Cycle Lane Bastobayon Parishod in front of the National Museum.
Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of Dhaka University Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique said, "We have to build the city a green one where the next generation can grow up in a healthy environment."
He also said use of cycle should be encouraged to reduce smoke and keepthe city's air fresh and separate cycle lanes have to be constructed, which can help building a healthy and clean city.
