Thursday, 6 November 2014

Suspected Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked police with grenades in Rajshahi city on Thursday, the 2nd day of Jamaat e-Islami’s 48-hour nationwide hartal (shutdown). Khandaker Nur Hossain of Boalia Model Police Station said Jamaat-Shibir activists took out a pro-hartal procession in the city’s Razarhata area on Thursday morning. ‘They threw two hand grenades at policemen in front of Loknath School at the end of the procession. The police, then, dispersed them,’ Nur Hossain added. Witnesses said, hartal supporters took out a procession from Razarhata in the morning. At the end of the demonstrations, they threw two grenades at the cops in front of Loknath School. Although the grenades loudly exploded no one was injured. Passenger vehicles and trains are operating in Rajshahi but no Dhaka-bound bus has left the north-western divisional city. Most of the business establishments in the city opened in the morning, according to a news agency.
