Grocer shot at for refusal to pay toll

Miscreants shot at a grocery shop owner allegedly for his refusal to pay toll in the city’s Sabujbagh area on Sunday night. Police, quoting witnesses, said Mujibur Rahman, 50, runs a grocery shop near his rented house at 126, North Basabo under Sabujbagh police station. A gang of miscreants numbering 3-4 swooped on his shop at about 11:00 pm and fired gunshots targeting him. He sustained bullet injuries in the right leg. The gangsters looted some money and one mobile set and fled the scene. Mujibur was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. While talking to reporters at the hospital, Mujibur said a gang of local miscreants had been demanding toll from him for the last several days. They might have perpetrated the gun attack on him, as he refused to pay them toll, he added, according to a news agency.
