Growers pass busy time sowing seeds of early-cultivated potato

NILPHAMARI, Oct 08: Cultivation of early harvestable potato started in the district.
Farmers are now busy in sowing the seeds in the large track of land.
Abu Alam of Bahagili union under Kishoregang upazila said farming of the early cultivated potato is profitable due to high market price.
The grower said he would cultivate the item in five acres of land this season.
A farmer usually spends Tk 15,000 to grow the potato in a bigha of land.
On average production is around 50 maunds.
The cultivator said he will able to harvest the produce after two months.
He further said it is possible to make Tk 70,000 net profit from each bigha if the market price is Tk 2,000 per maund.
DAE sources said the potato can be harvested within 60 days from the plantation.
