Growing population, a matter of concern

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

It is a matter of great concern that the population is rapidly growing to create an extra pressure on the national economy. The population density, already the highest in the world, is aggravating. Poverty is rising as a result of the growing pressure on our limited resources. The growing population is putting pressure on food, clothing, shelter and medicare. The prices are rising. The law and order is worsening. The crimes are on the rise.
Population growth is making it difficult for the availability of goods and services to cope with demand.
If half the landmass of Bangladesh submerges into the sea in 50 years as the environmentalists fear, Bangladesh would find it impossible to support its population.
Each year, we have to import a lot of food grains to meet the growing demand of the increasing population. As a result, the needed raw materials and machinery for industrialization cannot be imported.
Frequentation of holding and malnutrition of children are two negative consequences of unchecked population growth. Unemployment and destruction of forests can also be attributed to growing pressure of population.
