GTCL earns Tk 2.73b as pre-tax profit in '07-08 fiscal

Gas Transmission Company Ltd (GTCL) earned Tk 2.73 billion as pre-tax profit in the fiscal year 2007-08.
The company earned Tk 4.17 billion on account of transport of gas and condensate which is 18.26 per cent up against the previous year.
The financial disclosures came in the 15th annual general meeting (AGM) of GTCL held recently in the city, according to a statement issued by the company.
The AGM was told that the company deposited Tk 1.84 billion as debt service liability, Tk 486.7 million as dividend and Tk 151.9 million as income tax to the government exchequer.
The AGM approved the audited reports of 2007-08 and discussed the progress of various projects of north-west and south-west areas financed by Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Bangladesh government.
The AGM also discussed the projects to be financed by ADB and World Bank.
Chairman of the board of directors of GTCL Jalal Ahmed chaired the AGM which was also attended by directors and shareholders.
