Monday, 7 July 2014

Miscreants abducted four people from Bengamara in Matiranga upazila of Khagrachhari district on Sunday night. The victims could not be identified immediately. However, police and local sources said all the victims were construction workers, including a bulldozer driver. They were reportedly abducted by unidentified armed miscreants from a bridge construction site, workers at the construction site said. Caretaker of the under-construction bridge Suniti Tripura said they heard the firing sound of several rounds of bullet around 11:00pm and since then they could not trace out the four workers. Other workers suspected that the miscreants kidnapped the four men for ransom. The bridge is being built on the Khagrachhari-Chittagong Highway in Bengamara area by the Roads and Highways Division under the Eastern Bridge Investment Project, according to a news agency.
