Guns, ammo seized in raid on bus in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, July 29 (UNB): Five firearms with 20 bullets and huge bomb-making materials were seized from a bus at Jhalmolia in Puthia Upazila while the consignment was being transported towards Pabna Sunday.
Police said acting on a tip-off, a joint team of officials of the Narcotics Control Department and policemen halted a Rangpur-bound bus from Rajshahi at about 4:00 pm.
"Launching a search in the bus, they found a revolver, two pistols, two shutter-guns and ammunition tucked under a seat," said an official account of the raid.
The cops seized the guns and arrested three persons suspected to be involved in the gunrunning.
The arrested suspects were identified as Shariful Islam (28), son of Shamsuddin of Shiroil area of the city, and Nayan (37) of Nagarbari and Kutub (20) of Atgharia in Pabna district.
