EXAMINATIONS are often termed as 'battle-field' for the students. The performance in the exam is an indication how much serious a student has been for the whole semester/year. Doing well in the exam largely depends on how much a student can remember what he or she has studied. Recollection of any subject becomes an easier game for a student who has developed the 'thinking habit'.
We, human beings, tend to forget what we have read. After reading a piece, we need to revise it again and again so that we can remember this. Other than revision, a habit of thinking on the piece is also very helpful for students.
One best way of thinking can be finding tranquil environment, closing eyes, trying to remember issues that have been studied.
Thinking can be on all kinds of subjects including mathematics. Thinking difficult problems from arithmetic, algebra or geometry might be very helpful for mastery on mathematics.
If students can think on the piece they have studied, it becomes easier for them to remember the study materials better. It takes its position in the memory cell.
Thinking helps students diagnose what parts they are not clear about and what parts they are yet to memorise. They can take steps to have clearer concepts on the subjects.
Thinking habit makes students more confident about their subjects. This confidence helps them perform better in the examination.
Thinking habit helps students visualise the exam situation better. They can visualise how to answer one particular question better. They can also plan what question to answer next to what. This repeated visualisation helps them to perform smartly in the difficult exam situation.
Thinking habit helps students connect various knowledge components. They can relate one subject with other, one chapter with another, one issue with another. This helps them present any topic/answer in a more attractive manner in the exam scripts.
Because of the 'connecting power' that comes from thinking habit, students can become more original and innovative in their presentation. Their answer will become more consistent with the requirement of the question. All these will make their exam-scripts attractive and unique.
Last but not the least, students must think what they have studied today. It is humane to start forgetting things 12 hours after we study anything. And there comes the role of the thinking habit. A little bit of initiative of growing 'thinking habit' might bring desired success in the exam.
