HAC Securities trading halted

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) halted trading of HAC Securities Limited for its alleged involvement in short selling of shares. Sources said, on Monday, Banani Branch of the HAC Securities Ltd, sold 1600 shares of Northern Jute from ID code number 21151. But there were no shares of Northern Jute in the account bringing settlement failure. When contacted Managing Director of HAC Securities Laique Ali Chowdhury told FE that it was an inadvertent mistake of an official of HAC Securities who sold shares of Northern Jute instead of Northern Insurance. He informed after the settlement of the share we expected to resume normal trade from today (Wednesday). -FE Report
