Half-day hartal in Faridpur
Saturday, 13 December 2014
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of BNP, has been enforcing a half-day hartal in Faridpur since this (Saturday) morning protesting the arrest of its four leaders. The JCD announced the shutdown programme at a press conference in the district town on Friday afternoon. On Thursday, police arrested four JCD leaders, including district unit president Benazir Ahmed Tabriz, from Khabaspur intersection of Faridpur town. The arrest was made when the JCD men brought out a procession protesting a warrant issued by a court for the arrest of BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, according to a news agency.
