Police said the suspected terrorist Samiul Rahman aka Ibn Hamdan came to Bangladesh to recruit militants.
British citizen Hamdan was nabbed from the capital's Kamalapur Monday morning. He was taken to court which gave police three days for interrogation, according to a news agency.
Detective Police Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam told a press conference later in the day that they had found Hamdan by interrogating two suspected Ansarullah Bangla Team members arrested last week.
Asif Adnan, 26, and Md Fazle Elahi Tanzil, 24, were allegedly trying to go to Syria to join the Islamic State militants.
“In primary interrogation, Hamdan admitted that he was recruiting for IS and al-Nusra Brigade.”
