NARAYANGANJ, Oct 23 (bdnews24.com): Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has blamed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia for the Rupganj incident.
Over 50 people were injured, 10 by gunshot, when the police opened fire on demonstrators as they protesting against the army's acquisition of about 5,000 bighas (165,000 decimals) of land for an army project at Rupganj Upazila in Narayanganj.
Mr Hanif, a special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, made the allegation at a press conference at Rangpur Circuit House today (Saturday) afternoon.
The AL leader said that BNP leaders, activists and its associate organisations had instigated the local people into staging the demonstration.
