Hanoi urged to simplify visa process for BD businessmen

President Abdul Hamid has observed that the simplification of visa process for Bangladeshi businessmen and tourists, and joint initiatives in different fields can help exploit the potentials of huge market of Bangladesh and Vietnam. "People-to-people contact and the simplification of visa for Bangladeshi businessmen and tourists can help take the annual bilateral trade between the two countries to US $1,000 million by 2016," he said. The Bangladesh President made the remarks during a meeting with Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, at Reunification Palace. Earlier at a meeting, the Presidents of both Bangladesh and Vietnam agreed to take steps to reach the bilateral trade to US $1,000 by 2016 and remove barriers to trade and investment. Le Hoang Quan said the friendly relations between Hanoi and Dhaka are gradually increasing, hoping that the bilateral trade and investment will be expanded through the meetings of the Bangladesh President with the Vietnamese President, Prime Minister, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and chairman of the National Assembly House. Mentioning that Bangladesh has a population of 170 million and Vietnam 90 million, he said the relations between the two countries will reach a new height through exploiting the huge market, according to a news agency.
