Sunday, 9 August 2009

FEDERAL WAY, Aug 8 (AFP): American Jessica Hardy set a world record of 1min 4.45secs in the 100-metre breaststroke Friday at the US Open Championship, her second world record in as many days.
Hardy broke the old 100 breastsroke world mark of 1:04.80 set last week by American Rebecca Soni at the World Championships in Rome.
On Thursday, Hardy set a 50m breaststroke world record of 29.95 seconds, breaking the old mark set of 30.09 seconds set last Sunday in Rome by Russia's Yuliya Efimova.
Hardy withdrew from the 2008 US Olympic swimming trials after a positive drug test and was banned from competing for one year by a US arbitration panel.
