Hartal passing peacefully in Feni

A daylong hartal, enforced by the supporters of independent MP from Feni-3 constituency Rahim Ullah protesting the attack on him on Saturday evening, is passing peacefully in Daganbhuiyan and Sonagazi Upazilas of the district on Sunday. Rahim's followers called the hartal in the 2 Upazilas protesting the assault on him by some miscreants, said the lawmaker's personal assistant Julfikar Didar Hossain Masud. No untoward incident was reported and vehicular movement was almost normal as of filing this report at 12noon. Most of the business establishments remained open. Long-route buses left the 2 Upazila towns in the morning. A large number of policemen were kept deployed in the Upazila headquarters and Feni town to fend off any trouble, according to a news agency.
