Hartal underway in N\\\'ganj

A daylong hartal (shutdown), called for Sunday in Narayanganj district, including the city, by the District Bar Association in protest against the killings of seven people, including senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker, is being observed without any major untoward incident. The dawn-to-dusk hartal started at 6:00am and will continue till 6:00pm. Vehicular movement completely halted in Narayanganj city due to hartal while the movement of vehicle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway remained almost normal. Newly appointed superintendent of police, Dr Khandakar Mahid Uddin said the law and order in the city is under control. No unpleasant situation was recorded when this report was filed at 10:30am, according to a news agency.
