Hartal underway peacefully in 5 Bagerhat UZs

A daylong hartal, called by local unit of BNP protesting various irregularities during the 3rd phase upazila (UZ) Parishad polls, is progressing peacefully in five UZs of the southern district on Sunday. The five UZs are Morrelganj, Mongla, Rampal, Sharankhola and Sadar upazilas. Bagerhat district unit BNP president and convenor of 19-party alliance M A Salam announced the hartal programme at a press briefing in the town on Saturday. No untoward incident was reported till 10:30 am. An Islami Chhatra Shibir activist was killed and 15 people were injured during the local government in five UZs yesterday, according to UNB.
