Harvesting of BRRI paddy-33 begins in Faridpur soon

FARIDPUR, Sept 20 : The BRRI paddy-33 now has grown excellently everywhere in the district and its harvesting begins from the first week of October in all upazilas of Faridpur district.
The paddy is being cultivated in a large scale under public-private collaboration during this T-Aman season in Faridpur to create job opportunities for the farm labourers during the lean period of Ashwin and Kartik months.
The Directorate of Agriculture Extension (DAE) told this correspondent that plantation of seedlings and sowing of seeds of the BRRI paddy-33 were completed in time.
The crop has now grown well and its harvesting will begin in the last week of the current month and will get momentum from the first week of October next.
The farmers started planting seedlings and direct sowing of seeds of BRRI paddy-33 using dry and wet direct-seeded rice (DSR) method from the third week of June.
