Harvesting of T-Aman paddy nearly complete

GAIBANDHA, Dec 24 (BSS): Harvesting of T-Aman paddy is nearing completion in all the seven upazilas of the district this year. The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said 114,851 hectares had been brought under T-Aman cultivation with the production target of 287,976 tonnes of paddy during the current season.
Of the total, 95,319 hectares had been brought under high yielding variety (HYV) and 19,532 hectares under local variety, the sources said.
Deputy Director of DAE ANM Mizanur Rahman Amin told the news agency that 90 per cent of Aman paddy had already been harvested and the rest is expected to be completed soon.
After visiting different paddy markets of the district this correspondent found that the farmers are very happy with the prices of the paddy this year. Per maund of Aman paddy was being sold at Tk 560.00 to Tk 580.00, according to market sources.
