Hasan named player of series in tri-nation U-19 tournament

Bangladesh captain Mahmudul Hasan was named the Player of the Series in the Tri-Nation Under-19 Cricket Tournament that concluded in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo Tuesday, reports UNB.
Hosts Sri Lanka emerged champions in the tri-nation meet defeating Pakistan by one wicket in the final.
Although Bangladesh failed to reach the final, but its captain Mahmudul Hasan made an inspirational show in the meet scoring 116 runs in three matches with an average of 116.00 in addition to taking two wickets with his off-break bowling.
Left-hander Mominul Haque was the other Bangladeshi batsman, who scored 93 runs in three matches, placed 8th in the top 10 scorer list.
Besides, pacer Abul Hasan was the most successful bowler for Bangladesh grabbing six wickets for 93 runs in two matches with a best of 5/50 (against Pakistan U- 19) and finished fourth in the overall bowling list.
Bangladesh played three matches in the tournament and won one match against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh's crucial game against Pakistan was washed out without a single ball being bowled and this ultimately ended their hopes to make a final berth.
The Bangladesh U-19 team was scheduled to return home Wednesday night.
