Hasina arrested at behest of 'an invisible force'

Thursday, 19 July 2007

Awami League (AL) leader Latif Siddiqui Wednesday aired his suspicion that their party President Sheikh Hasina was arrested at the behest of 'an invisible force' to provoke muddling up the situation.
"I don't think Sheikh Hasina was arrested under the direction of Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed. Rather, an invisible force had done this to implement its plan, which we don't know yet", he told journalists at his residence at Dhanmondi in the city, reports UNB.
Latif condemned the arrest, saying that "it is not Sheikh Hasina but the whole of Bangladesh has been arrested".
Asked about pro-reform leaders in AL, he said, "AL would not split and no leader will destroy or desert the party."
AL leader Siddiqui observed that those who are now raising their voice against Sheikh Hasina would someday tell her that they had done it under pressure of the circumstances.
