Hasina gets another month in freedom

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

The government has extended former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's period of release by one month, hours after her husband appealed the Chief Adviser, report UNB and bdnews24.com.

A statement from the Home Ministry Tuesday citing the government order on the extension was made available to the media.

Hasina's husband Dr M Wazed Miah had earlier appealed to Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed for an extension of her period of release and withdrawal of all cases against her.

Hasina's special assistant Dr Hasan Mahmud along with her counsel and nephew Barrister Fazle Noor Tapash submitted the written appeal to the Chief Adviser's Office.
