Hasina has strengthened democracy: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith said on Thursday democracy has taken a firm root in Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He was addressing a discussion to mark the 39th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh Krishak League organized the meeting at Jatiya Press Club.  “Now we can say with pride that we’ve established democracy. We have been able to uphold Bangabandhu’s ideology,” Muhith said. He criticized BNP for boycotting the Jan. 5 parliamentary election.“A stupid political party did not take part in the election. But it mattered nothing. Our election was held fairly and we are an elected government,” Muhith said, according to a news agency.
