Hasina hints at inquiry why Khaleda hid just before BDR mutiny

Tuesday, 20 April 2010

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Monday said there was need of further enquiry to find out why the Leader of the Opposition had gone into hiding just before the BDR mutiny, reports UNB.
"Why she (Khaleda Zia) went out from her residence riding a black-tinted glass car just before the BDR mutiny? Did she know what will happen at Pilkhana?" she posed the question while addressing the Bangladesh Krishak League leaders at her official residence Ganobhaban.
The Krishak League leaders met the Prime Minister on the occasion of the founding anniversary of the organisation. Krishak League president Dr Mirza Abdul Jalil and general secretary Motahar Hossain Molla led the delegation.
The Prime Minister said: "She (Khaleda) was in a secret place for three days after hiding just before the BDR mutiny on February 25, 2009. "Where have you been? How did you know what will happen there (Pilkhana)? What was in your mind?"
About the trial of BDR mutiny, she said the process was going on rightly and there was a need for further investigation regarding the opposition leader's movements on that particular day. "The reason why the opposition leader hid and the secret place should be brought into light."
Hasina alleged that the opposition leader, her family members and her finance minister had earned black money during their tenure and for that reason they whitened their black money.
"If you didn't steal how did you amass black money? If it's not true, how else you found crores (millions) of taka from broken suitcase and torn vest (of Zia)?" she said.
The Prime Minister said: "The looting by BNP-led alliance government had put the country in a state of darkness."
She mentioned that the then ruling BNP "engaged in vote rigging in February 15, 1996 election and for that the people pulled them down on March 30, 1996."
Hasina alleged that the opposition was engaged in hectic conspiracy against the present government.
