Hasina, Khaleda visit Gazipur this week

The top two leaders of Bangladesh –Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia – are set to visit Gazipur at some times in the current week. Local leaders and workers of the two top political rival parties are running campaigns to make the visit in Gazipur city by the chiefs of their respective party successful. According to government sources, Sheikh Hasina – the Prime Minister and the AL president – is scheduled to pay a visit to the district for inaugurating the Prison Week at Kashimpur Central Jail on December 23. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, on the other hand, will go there to address a party rally at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College ground on December 27, a highly placed source at the BNP said on Friday. Law enforcement agencies are on alert to maintain law and order across the district during visits of two top political parties’ chiefs, avoiding any untoward incidents.
